A top lettings and property industry figure has been recognised in King Charles III’s first New Year’s Honours List.
Lettings industry and property expert Kate Faulkner was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the home moving industry. The honour recognises her work with The Home Buying and Selling Group, which works to improve processes for home movers.
Kate also co-founded The Letting Industry Council, which aims to drive up standards in the private rented sector, and regularly appears as a guest expert in the property media.
Afterwards, Kate said
“I feel a bit like I’ve been given the award for ‘top goal scorer’ – which you only get thanks to everyone that has supported you.”
Other property sector awards
Kate was not the only property industry figure to receive honours. David Nesbit, owner and principal of Nesbit’s Estate Agents in Portsmouth, was given a British Empire Medal for services to charity. David Mann and Saleem Fazal were named Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to inclusion in the property industry for founding Freehold, a networking group for LGBT+ property professionals.
In the social housing sector, Andrew Mark Van Doorn, Chief Executive of the Housing Associations Charitable Trust, received an OBE for services to housing. Andrew Hill, Chief Executive of housebuilders Hill Partnerships Limited, was given an OBE for services to affordable housing. And property pundit, interior design entrepreneur and television presenter Alison Cork was awarded an MBE for services to entrepreneurship.
