Despite continued media speculation over the future of the Renters (Reform) Bill, we have continued to brief political stakeholders on the importance of ensuring high standards and transparency in the private rented sector, and highlighting key changes needed to ensure the Bill works for agents, landlords and tenants.
Last week we attended the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Private Rented Sector, which discussed the proposed Private Rented Sector Ombudsman, how it will interact with existing agency redress schemes, and the redress gaps for tenants.
We are also continuing our work in Scotland and look forward to meeting several MSPs in the Scottish Parliament over the coming weeks. On our agenda are sector concerns around EPCs and new energy efficiency measures; rent controls; and the upcoming Housing Bill. We look forward to sharing updates from the outcomes of our meetings in due course.
